The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC) at the Small Business & Retail Crime Prevention Conference

Monday, May 5th | West End Cultural Centre – 586 Ellice Ave, Winnipeg

The Sargent Business Community (SBC) is proud to feature The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC) at our upcoming Small Business & Retail Crime Prevention Conference – a full-day event designed to support local business owners in building safer, more vibrant, and connected neighborhoods.

About The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC):

The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is a dynamic organization committed to supporting and advancing Indigenous-owned businesses in Manitoba. Through advocacy, networking, and partnership-building, the ICC empowers Indigenous entrepreneurs and businesses to thrive while fostering economic reconciliation and community development.

The Chamber serves as a vital hub for Indigenous business leaders to connect, share resources, and collaborate on opportunities that strengthen their presence in local and national markets. By promoting Indigenous innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, the ICC plays a pivotal role in creating a more inclusive and equitable economic landscape.

Panel Presentation: Enhancing Curb Appeal – Leveraging Community Resources for Business Success
This session will explore the powerful impact of first impressions and how small improvements like a fresh coat of paint, flower planters, or a mural can make a big difference. The panel will highlight how businesses can collaborate with organizations such as West End BIZ and the Indigenous Chamber of Commerce on beautification initiatives, access local grants and services, and get involved in neighborhood efforts that drive foot traffic and foster community engagement.

The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce will bring an important perspective to this conversation, emphasizing how Indigenous values and cultural representation can be reflected in storefront design, public art, and community improvement projects. The ICC’s participation will also highlight how inclusive economic development and Indigenous-led business leadership contribute to safer, stronger neighborhoods.

Speakers: West End BIZ, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), and the Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC)

We encourage all local business owners, staff, and community members—especially Indigenous entrepreneurs—to attend this important event and learn how to collaborate on improving both safety and street appeal in our neighborhood.
