RBC’s decision to close its Sargent Avenue branch on July 11 has deeply concerned the Sargent Business Community and local residents. This move, which redirects customers to an Ellice Avenue location two miles away, disproportionately impacts the West End’s significant population of seniors, newcomers, and those with disabilities who rely on accessible in-person banking. Despite RBC’s substantial profits, the community faces increased costs and safety risks, along with a potential rise in high-interest lenders, threatening the economic stability of our neighborhood.
