The Sargent Business Community (SBC) is aware of the deeply troubling video shared recently by “Northly Winnipeg” on Facebook, depicting a convenience store being set on fire during an armed incident. This footage, which shows the brazen use of violence and arson, is shocking and raises urgent concerns about the safety of our local business owners and staff.
Our thoughts are with the employee and the business owners affected by this traumatic event.
This incident underscores the critical importance of remaining vigilant and working together to combat serious crime, including arson, in our city.
Community Action is Critical
We must remain proactive. We urge all members of the Sargent Business Community to immediately review the safety protocols we shared in our previous post, which align with the City of Winnipeg’s coordinated efforts against arson.
- Security: Ensure your property is well-lit and that exterior doors and windows are secured at all times, especially after business hours.
- Report Suspicious Activity: If you witness any suspicious activity, especially involving potential criminal acts or the gathering of materials for arson, report it immediately.
If you have any information related to this or any other serious incident, please contact the Winnipeg Police Service immediately:
- Emergency (Crime in Progress): 9-1-1
- Non-Emergency Line: 204-986-6222
- Crime Stoppers (Anonymous): 204-786-TIPS (8477)
The SBC is committed to advocating for increased safety measures and support for our local business community. We will continue to collaborate with the Winnipeg Police Service, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, and Councillor Cindy Gilroy’s office to address safety concerns in our area.
