Arrest of Prolific Retail Theft Suspect is a Win for Our Community

The Sargent Business Community is relieved and grateful for the swift action taken by the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) in the arrest of a prolific retail theft suspect.

This arrest directly addresses the serious impact that repeat property crime has on our local businesses. We want to thank the West District General Patrol officers and the Property Crime Unit for their persistent investigative work, which linked the suspect to multiple incidents, including the theft reported in the 600 block of Sargent Avenue on September 4th.

A $4,000 loss is a significant burden on local retailers. By prioritizing these cases and detaining the suspect in custody, the WPS is helping us keep our community safer and more secure.

We encourage all business owners to continue reporting all incidents and suspicious activity to the Winnipeg Police Service.

Original post from Winnipeg Buzz:

“Winnipeg serial shoplifter caught after Portage Avenue theft.

A 57-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a string of retail thefts after West District officers arrested her at a business on Portage Avenue earlier this week.

Entering the same Portage Avenue store 12 times between Aug. 7 and Nov. 24 and stealing $3,147 worth of merchandise.

Stealing $100 in merchandise from a business on Vermillion Road on Sept. 2.

Stealing $80 in merchandise from a store on Sargent Avenue on Sept. 4.

Stealing $103 in merchandise from a Regent Avenue business on Oct. 16.”
