Crime Prevention Breakfast

Our Director, Michael Paille, recently had the opportunity to attend the Crime Prevention Breakfast. Chief Gene Bowers’ reflections on his nine months as Chief, particularly the focus on community safety pillars, resonated strongly. Events like these highlight the crucial collaboration needed between the Winnipeg Police Service, the business sector, and community stakeholders to enhance safety in our neighbourhood and city.

Here is a post from Winnipeg Police Service Facebook page talking about the event:

“Whereas… (if you know, you know).

Chief Gene Bowers had the privilege of addressing a packed room at the 2025 Manitoba Criminal Justice Association Crime Prevention Breakfast. Stakeholders from across the criminal justice community came together for this annual event which has become a long-standing highlight of Crime Prevention Month in Manitoba.

This year’s breakfast also fell on the anniversary of Chief Bowers’ 36th year of service with the Winnipeg Police Service. He shared reflections on the pillars that have guided his first nine months as Chief and how they continue to shape our collective approach to community safety.

Following the keynote, Sheila North, author and Indigenous Advisor to the Winnipeg Police Service, moderated a panel discussion featuring Chief Bowers, Inspector Helen Peters (Divisional Commander, Central Division), and Greg Burnett (Executive Director, Downtown Community Safety Partnership).

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning as well as your continued partnership, collaboration, and commitment to safety in our city.”
