Monitoring Incident in St. James

We are aware of the major, ongoing police operation in Winnipeg’s St. James neighborhood. While this active situation is outside the Sargent Avenue area, we are always closely monitoring developments to ensure our members remain informed on safety dynamics across the city.

We understand that reports of gunfire and heavy police presence can cause concern for business owners, residents, and staff throughout Winnipeg. We urge people to still shop at the businesses in that area. A decline in business because of crime hurts the community as a whole.

“Residents in Winnipeg’s St. James neighbourhood were left shaken after witnesses reported hearing gunshots during a major police operation in the area. 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐯𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Police have not yet released full details, and it remains unclear if anyone was injured or taken into custody. Authorities continue to investigate and are urging the public to stay away from the area while the scene is secured.

More updates are expected as the investigation continues.”
