At the Sargent Business Community, we believe that a thriving business district is built on a foundation of safety and accountability. We were relieved to see the recent news from the Winnipeg Police Service and Manitoba RCMP regarding the arrest of a suspect in connection with the tragic head-on collision that occurred on July 1, 2025.
The crash, which claimed the lives of three people, including beloved Winnipeg musician Brendan Berg and his partner Olivia Michalczuk, has weighed heavily on the hearts of many in our city. The suspect now faces 18 charges, including impaired driving causing death and various weapons and drug-related offences.
We want to thank the Winnipeg Police Service and the RCMP for their diligent work in making this arrest. As we continue to advocate for a safer Winnipeg for our business owners, staff, and customers, milestones like this remind us of the importance of community vigilance and law enforcement partnerships.
Our thoughts remain with the families and the local arts community during this difficult time.
