Teens in Custody After CF Polo Park Break-In and Bear Spray Attack

The Winnipeg Police Service has apprehended two individuals following a brazen break-in at CF Polo Park on May 25, 2025. The suspects are accused of breaking into two stores, stealing a laptop, and deploying bear spray on multiple security guards while attempting to evade capture. Both remain in custody facing a multitude of charges.

On May 25, 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service arrested a youth and a young adult after they broke into two stores at CF Polo Park, and sprayed several security guards with bear spray.
At around 9:00 a.m. the teens broke into a truck in the CF Polo Park surface parking lot. When confronted by a witness who called police, they made their way into the mall. Once inside the mall, the pair broke into a store, pried open several drawers, and stole a laptop. They then forced their way into a second store and tried to break open a cash box. The teens then sprayed several security guards with bear-spray and tried to run.
West District General Patrol officers found the two teens near an entrance to CF Polo Park at 9:16 a.m. and arrested them.
Barry Maximus MCDONALD (18) has been charged with 18 offences related to weapons, break and enter, and breaches of court orders. He also had five outstanding arrest warrants for court breaches. He remains in custody.
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with 18 offences related to weapons, break and enter, breaching court orders, and a warrant for suspension of his Conditional Supervision. He also remains in custody.
