West End BIZ at the Small Business & Retail Crime Prevention Conference

Monday, May 5th | West End Cultural Centre – 586 Ellice Ave, Winnipeg

The Sargent Business Community (SBC) is proud to feature West End BIZ at our upcoming Small Business & Retail Crime Prevention Conference – a full-day event designed to support local business owners in building safer, more vibrant, and connected neighborhoods.

About West End BIZ:

West End BIZ is one of Winnipeg’s most active Business Improvement Zones, dedicated to enhancing the local business environment through safety initiatives, beautification efforts, and community engagement. Their work focuses on improving the visual appeal and economic vitality of the West End while promoting a clean, safe, and welcoming atmosphere for businesses, residents, and visitors alike.

With programs like graffiti removal, cadet safety patrols, litter cleanup, and mural projects, West End BIZ plays a key role in fostering community pride and supporting local businesses. Their ongoing initiatives not only improve curb appeal but also help deter crime and create a positive, community-driven identity for the area.

Panel Presentation: Enhancing Curb Appeal – Leveraging Community Resources for Business Success

This session will explore the powerful impact of first impressions and how small improvements like a fresh coat of paint, flower planters, or a mural can make a big difference. The panel will also highlight how businesses can collaborate with West End BIZ on beautification projects, access local grants and services, and get involved in neighborhood events that drive foot traffic and customer engagement.

In addition, the discussion will cover the role of community-based safety programs such as cadet patrols, Neighborhood Watch, and graffiti removal in creating a safer, more appealing environment that reflects shared values and promotes business success.

Speakers: West End BIZ, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) and Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC)

We encourage all local business owners, staff, and community members to attend this important event and learn how to work together to improve both safety and street appeal in our neighborhood.
